Lilies

It was pretty nice out today.  I spent most of my time re-mulching the walking paths and weeding.  Dave and Alex have been digging a few plants out and moving them up on the hill.  Alex and I walked around the garden and discussed which plants we would like to move.  A lot of the perennials are beginning to outgrow the others and cover the smaller ones up.  There are also a few roses out of place.  It will definitely keep us busy!

A lot of the lilies have started blooming and I love that we have numerous varieties!

Field Trip

Today we visited Bailey's Nursery near Woodbury.  It was unbelievable.  I've never seen so many potted plants.  There were fields of them and so beautiful!  It was quite the sight.

Making Changes

The fence around the Master Gardener plot has been removed so visitors can go check out what they have growing in there!  Their plants are looking great.
I encourage everyone to also check out the roses in the garden.  They are all blooming and the different colors and growth habits make for an interesting display.
The rest of the garden is looking wonderful, if I do say so myself! :)  Now that we have most of the main tasks finished, we are going to start working on our new projects.  I'm pretty excited about redoing the herb mountain that we have.  It just is too overrun with mint and oregano.  I would like to put in a large amount of perennial herbs so that my design lasts for quite a few years with little maintenance needed.

Fish

I finally snapped a couple pictures of Coco and Jiggy.  They're less skittish than they used to be.  Today, Dave pointed out a monarch butterfly with the number "35" written on its wing.  It's the only one that we have seen with a number on it.  There are a lot of monarchs in the garden, though.  Perhaps it is because of the insane amount of beebalm (Monarda) that is blooming right now.  I have yet to see any hummingbirds but I took some nice pictures of the bees pollinating the plants.

The last three pictures were of a bee on the Veronica.

Blooming

Everything is growing vigorously these days.  When I come to work I end up noticing plants beginning to bloom that hadn't yet.  The garden seems to change fairly quickly.  The mulching is done!!!  Finally.  We've had to harvest some plants already as well.

The clematis is doing really well.

My favorite lilies in the garden!

Another Hot Day!

I was looking at old pictures of the garden and was shocked by how much it has changed over the years!  It will be interesting to see what it looks like years from now.
